I was experimenting on photoshop using another technique, and just felt like trying out the girl for a change :D

though she is way to detailed for the film, it gives an idea of the mood and feel >.> well...mebe...I was just playing around...

Roles [Thu, Dec 14th, 2006 @ 2:41pm]
I think we need to narrow down who does what in this production.

So we know exactly what we are meant to be doing and what is expect of each of us.

I will talk to Colette about this later to pin point it all and update you all with what we have decided.

Another thing I would like to see is colour thumbnails for each scene (before we make any final backgrounds is probably best - think about lighting and mood, what emotions we need to show in that scene and don't forget what characters go where)

So a small list to what I feel we are lacking, and seriously need sorting at this point is:

Regarding backgrounds
- Thumbnail sketches of each shot
- Small colour and lighting renders to sample mood and lighting...As well as looking to various colours that we could use in that scene
- Drawing out the backgrounds fully in the angle that had finally been agreed on
- Rendering accordingly to the final chosen thumbnails (please keep to the colour palettes finalized)

Regarding Characters
- No need to redesign the characters, just rework them, as in figuring out line quality and details that will and will not be included in the final and finished animation.
- Various production stills will need to be produced to test out how it will look against the background
- Test renders are going to need to be made using different brush stroke techniques ~this is an experimental animation, so lets take it as far as we can, its not every day we can be this free and loose with animation after all!~

From here, we need to accept what we are and are not good at, because at this stage time is running short and we still want to get the best out of everybody. We really need people to speak out and say exactly what they want to show out of this production, and bring forth your ideas - dont feel bad if we don't use your ideas in the end though, every little helps, and it might spark of another idea that brings us a step further to the finished piece! So please don't be afraid to speak out!!

Updates on progression [Thu, Dec 14th, 2006 @ 1:48pm]
As you know, we had a group meeting yesterday with:

Peter Parr

Not too sure with the location of Daryl at the moment though O_o

To keep everyone update with the happenings of the production, we all was meant to make production stills and discuss on what exactly we felt the film should look like... Colette, Tom and myself looked at one production still which Colette and I had put together (with Tom's supervision) and experimented with different lighting and effects to make the characters stand out from the background.

Later applying the characters to Abby's background, we had decided to digitally render the layouts. I shall later post an example of what Abby did to show you what is expected from the digital renders.

As for colours, we are going to stick to warm candlight effects (oranges and yellows, with touches of blues and purples. The sky will consist of dark blues and purples. Again, I shall later post examples of what is requested of them.

Reguarding the character designs, they seem to appeal to Peter Parr, though only before we rendered them, he feels we are loosing a lot of the character from too much block paint brush strokes and making the image flat. As a result, we concluded that using more of a viraty of brushes is necessary. So we will need to step back and rework into the characters, adding more detail and focusing a lot more on the movement rather then the details or the structure.

Peter seemed pleased with what animation has been done so far, we just have to be aware and not loose the life that our drawings have gained so far...

Other issues that had cropped up is the quality of drawing for the animations, as you may have seen, my previous post is a selection of drawings of a woman dancing by Peter Parr himself :) this is the kind of effect we are looking for, focusing on the movement of the image, and getting a real fluent feel to our drawings, moulding our pencil around the form and not making it so still looking. It doesnt matter if we dont see a full image, as long as we have life in that character, it looks and feels right, it is fine!

Please keep checking the community for any more updates, and also our journals, we will be updating regularly (when we have time) and feel free to get in contact with me if needs be...

MSN: hoi_chan@hotmail.co.uk - if you don't have my mobile number just IM or ask me and I can give it to you for more direct contact, though I should mostly be found on line (especially in the evening time should you need me)

Update on progression of backgrounds [Fri, Dec 1st, 2006 @ 1:19pm]
Here is all the lastes work we have done so far, I have also included some colour charts of the layouts that Erica has done (hope you don't mind hun)

Though this work is done on the computer I am working out colours using the colour palettes provided, to get a feel of what it is basically going to look like.

I am drawing out the 360 degree turn, as well as experimenting with various mediums, photos are provided so you can see my progression with that. If you would like to make any suggestions feel free, and even give examples of what you believe I should improve on if you have time!!!

If there is any questions or queries about the backgrounds, please feel free to ask or send an email if you are curious on the progress etc.

And also please let me know if anything here is unclear, either me or erica will get back to you~
